London! London! London!!!!

After we got off the train that took us under the British channel, we exchanged our Euros for Pounds, or what my aunt likes to call it Monopoly money. Well its really pretty ;). After we found our way to the Metro, which the Metro in London is cool but more expensive. We had to buy these cards that you would scan when you went through the gate. It was slightly awesome. Plus the trains were freaken nice, so not white trash. Once we got off we had to walk two blocks to our flat. We actually walked passed it because we were too busy looking at all the cool cars and light poles.

Our Land lord was nice but kind of a grumpy butt, because we were "late" shut up dude we are the ones paying to rent your flat! Ha ha. Well let me tell you, our flat was beautiful!!! Not as cool as the one in Rome but still. I called the living room as my room, cuz i wanted to stay up late and watch the people that walk the streets at night in London. ha ha.

Well since it was Sunday, nothing was really open, so we just got food and stayed in and watched TV. (PS. It was nice to be in a place that everyone speaks English). After that we went to bed. Well not me I enjoyed my alone time and probably facebook stalked most of you ;).

The first day we went out to explore London!!! We decided to buy tickets for a tour bus because there was too much to see and not enough time. (Plus the beauty about this tour bus company you can get off and on all day.) And plus the tour guides were freaken hilarious! Our second one was this lady that went to school with Emma Watson, and apparently learned how to ski with her too. LOL whatever.

We got off at the tower of London, words can not describe that place, actually any place I've seen it's hard to explain. It's just so amazing! However, we did not go see the Royal jewels because the line was longer than a Disney Land line. So after seeing a few sights here and there, we had to make a choice to go see The Eye of London, or go eat. We are such suckers for food.

We went to Hard Rock Cafe which was the very first one EVER! Our waitress was new but cool. However, even though everyone speaks English we all have different names for things. We asked for a side order for chips and salsa...Chips are french fries. Ha ha awesome our bad :) I bought 2 shirts cuz I wouldn't decide which one I really wanted. 40 pounds = 80 dollars!!! never in my life have I spent that much on clothes! (Which i'm sure you guys can tell with my lame sense of fashion ha ha)

After we walked home. During our walk home we kept saying "did you know we are in London?" Yeah never in my life did I think I would be walking down the streets of London. Cool!

The next morning I realized I forgot to buy my boss Chocolate, and we were planning on going to the temple. So with the Lord in mind he guided me to this amazing chocolate shop. They treated me like gold. Seriously, a dream come true. They sat me down, served me hot chocolate in a tea cup, let me sample almost every chocolate they had on display.  (Because I ordered 120.00 pounds of chocolate so yeah I deserved to be treated like gold.) While enjoying my hot chocolate, I realized the music they were playing was Evanescence, can I say I was in heaven. :) (Yes I enjoy Amy Lee's music thanks.)

After they packed up my chocolate so nicely, I said thanks. Then ran back to our flat to drop our chocolate off and then we rushed to the train station.

Now, first of all the London Temple is not in London, its a 45 minute train ride and a 10 min taxi ride to get there. This was so easier said than done ps.

Our Taxi driver wasn't a member but he loved to draw, he had a framed picture of the London temple in the back of his cab. His name was Kevin he was a sweet heart. Once in the temple we learned that the temple workers were short staffed so my aunt and friend had to take turns going to do endowments, because I wasn't aloud to be alone, cuz I'm not endowed. (This rule was more for the 12 year olds that might wonder off with the opposite sex. In the temple??? wtf is wrong with the world now a days.)

There was this couple who were on their honey moon, and two married women who's husbands that are not active. It was kind of cool being in their company, seeing their faith and attending the temple.

After the temple we were back on the train, the married couple sat next to us, and this random woman. Who funny was from Orem Ut. Her husband was off touring some world war stuff and she decided to go to the temple. She was weird, she liked that I was a film major though. Her two favorite movies are "Sound of Music" and "Pulp Fiction" WTF???

After the temple we changed and found our way to the theater that was showing Lion King. Yeah call me a sissy but I never thought I would cry in Lion King. It was sooooooooooo amazing! Well when they start off at the first song a freaken Elephant walks down the aisle! (No fools not a real one but a costumed one! But it was life sized!) Honestly it was mind blowing!!! I forgot why I love Broadway so much!!! My two favorite scenes: The stampede! amazing! and the part where Simba looks in the sky and see's his father. Why cuz the peeps are like waving these signs around then in a blink of an eye they formed Mufasa face!!! Also I loved the song "He lives in you." Which isn't in the first one but the second one I think....whatever it's call geez.

After the show was over we got bullied into paying 20 pounds to ride in this cart thing home. We were like what the heck its our last night. At the moment I was really sad. I think I cried a few silent tears. Since February I had been stressing about going to Europe and now it was all over.

Once we got home my aunt and friend passed out. Not me, I had to blog. And I had to call a friend because she would be gone for another month, which would make it two months not seeing each other which was really sad. So I sat on the window seat and looked over the town of London and called my friend, (we are going to call her Angelina Jolie for reasons unknown :D). We talked for about an hour, which I knew would be an expensive phone call. Why? cuz its .99 cents a minute. Geez it was worth it. I was just sad to leave, I didn't want to go back to America, I had grown to love these lands. But what made me feel better was knowing I would return someday. Someday soon I hope!! Ha wishful thinking.

In the morning we packed and returned our keys, headed for the train station. I was still really sad but once on the plane I realized how much I missed everyone in America. The flight was slightly more enjoyable than the first time. However, we were delayed so when we landed in Atlanta we had to run to our next plane. However, however, for some reason when my aunt booked our flights I was not scheduled to go on hers. So when we got to the gate we tried to get me on hers but they were full. So she got on and I walked around the airport. Geez I thought JKF was big, um no this was so big they had their own metro to take you to different gates.

I got my first Dr. Pepper! It didn't taste as good as one would hope...oh well. Then I called my parents to tell them I was back in America. Then I called my old roommate Canada and we talked, then I had to walk 30 mins to my gate. I decided to walk cuz I was feeling lousy, I already missed France and all my Cannes friends. :(

Once on the plane, I completely passed out. I woke up for the last 40 mins of the flight, one of the stewardess cracked a joke about how she thought I was dead. (I guess I passed out before the flight took off.) How comforting.

Once I walked out of the SLC airport, I saw snow on the mountains I was not very happy. I wanted my beach in Cannes. :( My car was parked at my aunts house, we had to jump it since it had been sitting there for a month. I drove home (I was slightly worried that I forgot how to drive. ha ha jk.)

Walking into my apt was weird, my room was the way I left it. "In a hurry" I don't know how to explain how I was feeling, I was happy to be home, but I wasn't all there....

The next morning I remembered I had waffle mix so I was so stoked to make waffles!!! I think I scared my roommate because she forgot all about me ;) I made my waffles and we talked about my trip. Jealous? yeah she was.

Later I called the doctor, to make an appointment about the rash on my leg, and the rash on my arm. (We concluded that the rash on my legs was from a dead Jelly fish, that must have touched me when I was in the water one night...it was like 3 in the morning so its not like I could see anything! The rash on my arm was from a slight case of contact dermatitis. We weren't sure on that one, because the rash design followed my vein, which I pointed out, that it showed up the next day after that nurse drew some blood. Damn those doctors. )

Then I started to unpack. Sad day. Then life resumed as it was pre-Cannes.

Now I am back in school! Last year whoot whoot! I just got approved for Graduation!!!

When I feel like blogging again, I'll tell you all about my wonder hospital experience about a month ago. Until then,

Now where were we???

So one of my friends pointed out that I haven't updated my blog in forever...yeah well lets pick up from where we left off...

So first day in Rome we had scheduled a tour of the Vatican....well we looked at the time wrong so we booked it to the place but they said since we are late we had to reschedule. So we got on a bus and went to see other places that I can't spell. Well since we didn't know how the bus system worked we got on the wrong bus and missed our tour AGAIN!!

Lucky they were nice enough to schedule again. That night we went to get ice cream and find a hard ware store because my aunt had a transformer that needed a fuse. Good think she's a handy women I would have just said "oh no its broken I need a new one" lol. Well since we had some down time we were walking around and saw a thia massage place. We decided to get a massage, well I never had a massage before but my aunt promised me I would be covered and it would be amazing.

Such a lie! Lol Basically this was my experience. This 95 pound thia lady took me back to a room with a mat on the floor, and told me to get down to my spankies. No there was no cover, just me half naked and that lady. The massage it self...let's just say she's been places no man has gone before.
After we went back out to eat and were laughing sharing our stories. A mother and daughter that were next to us, happen to be from America so we talked for a while. The lady worked for the catholic church in some department I think it was called the "anti sexual abuse children." Basically it this was formed to weed out priests or other members who sexually abuse children. It was either that or she worked for the department that protects the pope from being accused for having children, cuz he can't get married and such. Even though when we went to the Vatican we learned all the popes had many children...ill have to ask my aunt what that lady does for the church.

That night we tried to stream Angels and Demons from netflicks did you guys know that netflicks doesn't exist out of the USA? Well it does but it won't let you stream movies cuz the government won't give them permission!! lame sause!!!! So we went to bed instead...the next day we were 45 mins early for our tour. Do you realize the Vatican is its own country? We saw a lot of stuff that day but you can spend 7 years in the Vatican and not see everything. There were moments when you would walk into a room and there was so much stuff your mind would spin! My fav was the sistine chapel it was amazing to see real paintings that you usually only see in books. Breath taking.

After the tour I mailed some post cards and we went back to our flat to clean and finish packing. Ps in Europe they have this washer and dryer all in one....they suck!!! Or we just can't read European lol it took 3 days for my clothes to dry and some were still wet when I packed them.
The guy that own the flat called us a cab and after I stopped drooling we checked out. (My aunt forgot to mention that he was the most beautiful Italian man I will ever see in my life! No joke.)
Once at the train station we tired to exchange money but the western union lady couldn't take cards. We figured if we wanted to buy something on the train we could just use our cards silly us.
Once on the train we saw the signs that said euros only, so we had to scramble for all our change and paid the most expensive meal on our trip. Sleeping was interesting because they had safety belts on the beds so if the train stopped suddenly we wouldnt roll right off. Once we got to Paris I felt like I was home, France is my new home. Don't be jealous America ;)

Finding out flat wasnt too hard since it was behind McDonald's (so glad it wasn't a wendys ;))
In France people don't believe in space and they shop at IKEA, don't get me wrong I love IKEA but when I'm staying at a place that I pay more than rent it should be furnished with other name brands.... any who we decided to go to the wax museum. Quite educational and its creepy how real the peeps look.

I fell in love with Paris not because its Paris, but cuz it really is a city of love. Yes everyone I fell in love! With the metro that is (that would be the underground subway) the metro got us everywhere we needed to be, every 4 mins a train would arrive and it was less than 2 euros. See why I fell in love, the whole city was at my control all I had to do was jump on. Lol
Well since the metro was awesome we went all over Paris!!! We hit up places like notre dame, moulin rouge (I wanted to go inside but my aunt wouldn't let me cuz I had my temple recommend to think about) we went to a French mass at the church that's on a hill that i can't remember what its called, so on and so forth.

Then we went looking for our church, we passed a French library which was awesome, cuz the design was a building full of colorful pipes. Then we walked down the street and noticed a lot of gay places then the church. It's not like the buildings here in Utah, it was connected to other buildings but had its own court yard. So then we went to Hard Rock Cafe and had an amazing meal and our waiters name was homeboy so how could you go wrong with that? Yes I got a t-shirt its blue and awesome. Then we went home and watched some tv and then went to bed. The next day we were slightly lost but the metro saved us and while walking to church another American, funny from provo ut asked to accompany us. I don't remember what his name was but he was going to be working on the new testament movies. That was interesting. At church some sister missionaries greeted us and so did the bishop or something. He actually worked for the American embassy, funny you only see those people in movies, let alone they being LDS lol.

Since in Paris there is only one ward for Sunday school they have many teachers that speak different lanuguages. We went to the English one of course then for sacrament we got to wear the head sets so that the brother missionaries can translate. I witnessed two new members receive the holy ghost, the spirit was so strong and it was amazing for me to witness that. After that the other announcements were there plans to go to the London temple, if you were planning to go you had to set a side 3 days for travel and such. That made me realize being in Utah we are spoiled. We have a temple that is a car ride away, they have to travel to a different country. The talks were interesting as always :)

We couldn't stay long after cuz our train to London would be leaving soon and since we had a habit of getting lost we needed crunch time. So we booked it back and left our keys and booked it to the metro, found the station and went through the lines and security, once we got through we ran to our train.
Since the train ride was only less than 3 hours they were just coach seats. Across from our seats was a British couple, who asked if we were Mormon cuz we prayed over our meal.(BTW which was so much more amazing than our Paris train meal). After talking to this couple we made friends and got some tips of what to do in London.

London part is coming soon...

Last Day of Cannes

Well my Sunday has been great! I got to sleep in by 5 mins!!! Yuppie whoot whoot NOT! I got up early to go see a film but I didn't want to take the chance to miss out on Tree of Life. (The first time I tired to see the film I got trampled on by a riot of stupid press peeps.) So after I checked in I went to the American Pavilion to check email and such, then I stood in line. I was only like the 70 person so I wasn't worried about getting in.

The seat I got wasn't too bad....couldn't say that about the movie lol. I won't say anything until more of my friends have seen it. I'm not going to lie I actually really liked it. Why? Because everyone else hated it, that's just how I roll.

After Tree of Life I caught the Spanish film called, "The Skin I live in." I want all our film teachers to see this one, especially Sharon and Darl I want to hear what they have to say about it. The skin I live in was actually my favorite, I was not expecting the twist and its such a good twist that I almost cried. Yes its a disturbing movie to watch but its sooooooooooooooo good! Don't mind the sexual crap you know how those....actually lets move on.

After those movies I went to the Pavilion and we had our closing party so it was hard to say good bye to all those who I have grown close too. After a million pictures and some tears I went home, one last time on the bus. It was one of those moments that you realized that you might not ever see those people or this place again. I'm sure I will but still.

When I got back to the apartment I was in a grumpy mood. If you know me I have a hard time crying, I like to compare myself to Cameron Diaz on The Holiday, the part that she can't cry when she knows she should. Well that's like me, I should be crying because its sad, we are leaving and going back to reality. But nope nothing came. Oh well.

My roommate came home and she owed me money so we went across the street and one last time got our favorite pizza and a freaken NUTELLA CREPE!!! I almost cried as I ate the last bite, but of course I didn't. After we went back and I started to pack, since I was still grumpy I just threw everything in my bag. Why cuz i didn't care, my flight was only 50 mins to Rome. So what would be the point to pack everything nicely? Plus I was grumpy because I didn't have any clean undies, I would have done my laundry but I decided to go get blood taken and be accused of doing drugs between my toes for 6 or so hours!!! Also if I didn't mention it, most of you don't know that I have a web toe, so when the doctor looked in between my toes he couldn't decided if in between my web one if that line was from a needle or because its two toes stuck together. Loser.

After packing I went over to our neighbors and partied for an hour, then I went to find my Cannes' Family, (these are the peeps I met at the airport and we even made a family tree. My role is the fun aunt good choice? I think so.) We decided to go onto the beach one last time. We took our towels and blankets and partied on the beach. We were all tired so 4 of us spooned and fell asleep under the stars. So romantic.

I woke up to not a very romantic sight, a group of my Ampav peers found us all sleeping on the beach and decided to bring wine and beer then go skinny dipping. I of course just stayed under the blanket, because I was exhausted and the person I was spooning was like a heater so why would I get out into the cold water? A few of my friends were drunk and thought it would be funny to jump on me, so funny they rehurt my knee JERKS!

After a while I just wanted to go to bed, so I said my final goodbyes to my fam and walked back to the hotel. I felt this was the best way, its just like a bandaid just rip it off! LOL. Oh before I left my I found my roommate down on the beach, s@#$ faced of course so I helped her find her bag and I had one of the guys walk her home.

When I got back to the hotel it was 330am, I didn't brush my teeth I just got into my skimppies and laid down. Well my roommate was laying down and she was starting to talk in her sleep. I giggled at first but then I realized what was really happening. I started to hear the loud sighs and the gaging. Then it happened, she tossed her cookies! I swore and ran into the kitchen and grabbed the trash can. I tried to get her to throw up in the can but she was too drunk to do anything. She threw up mostly red wine, and I started to clean it up, even in her drunkenness she didn't want me to clean it up, but she couldn't even sit up. Our room mentor came out and tried to help, but the sound of throwing up makes her throw up so she went back into her room. Thanks guys. After a half an hour of her throwing up, and me cleaning it up, I was starting to feel sick and was too tired to deal with it. I made sure my roommate was laying down and asked her to throw up in the garbage can, of course she didn't. Not like she had a choice, she simply just couldn't.

Since neither one of my other roommates were in their room I just went and slept on the top bunk. It took a while for the sound of gags and splashing to stop but I finally went to sleep. I woke up at 8, really grumpy might I add. I walked into my room to see my roommate gone and her stuff semi cleaned up. I was at the point of not caring anymore, I just wanted to see my aunt! I wanted to be in Rome so I could finish my trip and go home!

During clean up I noticed that my charger was gone, I called the throw up roommate and she had to check her bags but by mistake she took my charger. So I freaked out for a while because I needed it! We worked out a way for her to leave it at the airport so I could pick it up there.

After taking out a crap load of trash and stuff I took my bags down to the shuttle, where I got on the bus and waved too the hotel I pray I never have to see again. One of my fam members sat with me on the bus and we talked and laughed at all the good times and bad times we had.

Once at the airport I found my terminal and waited for my flight. I was 4 hours early yeah for me.

My flight was delayed but I finally got my things on the plane and I sat down and kissed Cannes France goodbye. Yes I shed one tear as the plane took off, but I was so excited to see my aunt and start my real vacation!!!

ROME!!!

When I landed my aunt called me and said that we hired a guy to come pick me up. And let me tell you he was so worth it. However, he was the most expensive man I've paid for lately geez. ;) He took me to a beauty flat in Rome, I'll post pics once I'm home. This place that we got was only 20 min walk away from the Vatican and it had a beautiful garden area that I forgot what they called it. Anyways it was freaken nice and the toilet was in the same room as the shower. If I could cry it would have been right there, except they had two toilets....yeah i'm not explaining what the second one was...ewwww.

I slept in a very comfortable bed and got to eat some yummy breakfast that was different from what I've had for the last two weeks!

Well I will write more later, I have to go to sleep now.

Even though I'm writing about Rome I'm currently in London, really sad that I leave for America in the morning :(. The funny thing is I've been ready to go home for like 2 weeks, but today when we were trying to find our way to the show "The Lion King" I realized I wasn't ready to go home, I've had so many awesome experiences here, that I don't want them to end. (Either that or it dawned on me that I have to go back to Wendy's.) LOL.

Well I will finish telling all about my amazing adventures later. This has been fun and I'm so glad the Lord gave me this opportunity to grown and meet some of the most amazing people ever.

Party Party Party!!!!

Queer party:

As part of the American Pavilion we throw parties here and there. Our first major party was hosted by John Cameron Mitchell, the director of Rabbit Hole, obviously he's gay hence our "queer party." Well I have never been to a "real" party before so I didn't know what to expect.  It wasn't to bad, the music was just as normal as any party I've been too. The only real difference is everyone was drinking except me of course. the guys at the bar were making fun of me cuz I was buying oj. A few of my friends teased me for a while but then they said I had strong will power since temptation was all around me. well good for me.

Later a few drag queens showed up, they were really nice. one was nice enough to spill his entire beer all over me. the cast of "We need to talk about Kevin" showed up so I got a pic with Ezra the kid that plays Kevin he's actually really nice and down to earth. John C. Riley wasn't so nice, you really can't blame him when peeps are always chasing him.  Plus one stupid girl knocked his wife over cuz she was chasing him with a camera! Honesty peeps respect. Well towards the end when everyone was getting wasted I wanted to go home but we couldn't until we cleaned up the beach and the pavilion next to us. So I started picking up stuff off the beach and this gay guy came up to me.

Gay guy: I really like your shirt. (I was wearing a really nice blue blouse.)
Me: Thanks it matches my eyes
Gay guy:wait let me see (looks deep into my eyes) yes wow it does it looks good on you and your colors Omg.
Me:what about them?
GG: I can read peoples colors and yours show that you are a good person. I can see that you are not a fake person because I hate fake people and there are so many fake people around here. So thank you for being a real good real person.
Me: awe thanks that made my night ;)
Lol after that we finished cleaning up and left we had to take a cab since it was 3 in the morning. Then I went to bed. Thank goodness

Day something: A great morning not.

Well my day started at 10 am when my room mentor woke me up to tell me I forgot to check in. We are suppose to check in between 6am and 9am, this check in system is just to make sure you are still alive. So basically after my mentor woke me up I got up and ran out the door. The thing with these doors are you have two keys. One for in inside lock one for the outside lock. There is a lock box outside to keep the outside key so that all 5 roommates have access to the key. If you lose a key it's like 120 euros. For those that don't know the currency rate for a euro its almost 1.50 American dollars for one euro. So yeah American money isn't worth anything here.
Any who I ran barefoot to check in then went back to bed. I couldn't fall back asleep so I just got up and hit the town. I caught a movie then went to work. It wasn't busy and there wasn't anything to do, and since I'm adhd I walked around like a crazy person. Lol so my day wasn't the best but hey I am in freaken cannes France.

Another day another what?

Work is work 6 hours of nothing takes a lot out of you lol. I was bored and didn't have any tables to attend so I went into the storage room and organized everything. My boss walked in when I was finishing up and was very impressed with my hard work. To show his appreciation he gave me a sticker. So appreciated.

Later I decided to go out with some friends that night, we tired to catch a movie but since it was opening night they didn't let anyone in with out a ticket. So we decided to go out to eat, one of the girls needed it she was such a b on an empty stomach. We went to this fancy resturant called Caffe Roma slightly pricey but way good. After that I wanted to go home so me and the b girl caught a cab and went home. After that I crashed.

Producers party.

Well I volunteer to work the producers party. I thought it be fun and a good chance to get rid of my cards and such. Well since we weren't throwing the party networking wasn't aloud, oh well. My job was to watch other the crates of beer and keep the back organized. I was next to some trees and none of the pavilions have bathrooms so I had to physically push producers who were drunk and trying to pee on the trees away. Not exactly how I wanted to meet some of them lol.
The party finished at 8 in the morning I started to fall asleep so they sent me home.
I only slept for a few hours.

Later I went to the pavilion to check my email and see if I could go find where frtd was being advertised...YEAH I was so tired when I got there I hit the student lounge and fell asleep. Our lounge is next to this one building that tourists can hang out. Apparently one tourists saw me sleeping on the couch and took my picture wtf.

Day for the doctor:

During the producers party I discovered this rash form on my legs. I joked that its because my legs aren't used to being covered (yes that means I was wearing pants) the next morning it hurt to walk and I had to work another party.
The morning after that it was hard to walk and my knee hurt really bad. It hurts to bend it but I just assumed it was from standing all day and perhaps I slept on it wrong. Any who, I told my mentor that I wanted someone who speaks French to go to the pharmacy with me. They told me to go to the pavilion and wait for her.
The lady took me to go see the firemen because they have more medical training than the pharmacy peeps. They told us to go to the hospital, so we took a cab to the hospital.

It's really chilled and relaxed here I didnt have to wait long before they set me on a table. The doctor came in and we talked about what it might be, she thought maybe it was an allergy to my PANTS!!!
BTW they made me take my shoes off to make sure the rash wasn't going further down. I was slightly embarrassed cuz I've been running around for the last two weeks so my feet are broken up, sorry about that. Well she then had two different doctors come in and look at my legs. None of them had any idea of what it might be. Since my knee hurts they did an x-ray and took a few blood samples, so now France has my blood gag. This wasn't exactly how I wanted to spend my last Friday in Cannes. I got frustrated when they were taking my blood cuz the doctor kept asking me about if I had any diseases, now I have to wait to see if they can find something. Personally its just a rash give me some cream and send me to bed. Finally when my blood results came in they took me to a room and 3 new doctors came to examine me. This gave a grand total of 6 doctors to check out this rash. Wtf.
They said my blood was normal and that they didnt know what was wrong with me they recommend coming in on Monday to see the skin doctor, Naw it took them 6 hours to tell me nothing ill pass.

After I went back to the hotel and got food and took some of my roommates pills and passed out.

I'm done working at the American Pavilion, today is my day off, I'm going to try to catch some movies today and tomorrow. We also have our closing party tomorrow. I'm sad to see this be over but I'm so ready to go see Rome and London! Also I miss America, and I'm dying for some FREAKEN DR. PEPPER! Yeah!!!!

Love,

Kickin it in France YO!

First day of cannes

Well my adventure started Friday may 6 at 5:00am when we wrapped up the student short film Weighted. I spent the rest of that day doing everything I could to get done, I ended up going to bed at 1am then getting up
at 3:45 to finish everything. I left my house at 5am I still managed to forget my watch and a few slightly important items, but I will live.

Checking in was easy I just don't understand why we need to check in two hours early, cuz I sat there doing nothing. When I boarded my first plane I was placed next to two old people who I mildly enjoy listening to them argue since neither one could hear them talking. The plane pulled up to the flight strip then we stopped not sure what was wrong with one of the passengers but they asked if anyone was a doctor on the plane. So the pilot had to take us back to the dock where paramedics got on. In the end she was able to walk off the plane, but we left 45 minutes later than expected.

Once in the air a little girl started to cry I'm sure it was cuz she didn't want to sit in her seat, she screamed the whole way there only taking a break to have a drink of water when the stewardess brought the drinks around. I tried to take a nap but the screams from the kid made it hard. Finally we got there in JFK airport. I was dropped off at gate 29 and needed to be at gate 7. About 20 minutes later I found my gate and only had 40 minutes to wait, in that time I wished I had exchanged my US dollars for Euros since no one around here takes credit.

Once on the plane I was seated next to a girl that was also going to cannes in the Ampav program she was white and flying from Hawaii. She seems cool and nice but I only see her here and there since there are about 180 students. The flight wasn't too bad but I couldn't sleep since I was in the middle seat and people who invented planes are as tall as a 5 year olds so my knees were in the back of the person in front of me. Sorry dude.

Once there I had fun waiting in the huge line to get my passport stamped for the first time. I was grateful my luggage didn't get lost, and finding my group was easy. We all were shy but at least willing to talk cuz we had to wait for the shuttle bus. A few hours later we were crammed into a bus and taken to our hotel. Slightly a pain these locks are you have to use keys to lock yourself in fancy that.

After chillin and unpacking I went in search for food and ran into some of the peeps I met at the air port they asked if I wanted to go into town.
We walked along the beach and discovered the beaches here are like no other if (you know what I mean). The town is so beautiful and its only a 30 min walk to work but I'm still getting a bus pass. We saw a lot of cool things and enjoyed getting in the water.

After that I got some food and went up to my room I met the rest of my roommates we talked for an hour then they wanted to go out to town. I said Naw ill just gonna watch some tv. Such a lie. I barely made my bed and passed out. Didn't get up till 6 the next morning yeah it sucked.

Day 2:

We had a busy day breakfast was good, I discovered I don't like the smell of French coffee ;) they did however have these amazing bread things that had chocolate in it and it was divine.
After that we met in our mentor groups and they showed us around town and this is when I discovered people around here really don't take cards. But I'm sure I can get euros in cannes.

After we walked to the pavilion to see where we would be working for the next few weeks, then we met at a high school for international students. There we had a few seminars about the festival and such. One that really inspired me was when all the mentors took turn talking about how they got to where they were. This inspired me because I've been having doubts about my career path. One thing that one of them had said "prepare for that moment" not sure why but it just really inspired me.

After one of our mentors showed us a project he made a few years back. He shot it on super 8, it was just a homemade project but it was really interesting. He did this weird color dye on some of the film strip. It was fascinating.

Later that night we had our first party where we all could meet and interact together. One of the mentors asked me if I was Mormon since I was from Utah I corrected him and said "Mormon comes from our scriptures called the Book of Mormon, we are actually called LDS. Which stands for Latter Day Saints, don't worry its a common mistake ;)" he laughed and told me I was the first Mormon that he was aware of that has came to this program. I told him that I was the first from BYU (that I'm aware about cuz I asked Jeff and he said no one else has gone.) Well this mentor said he had only been to Utah for sundance, but didn't really know anything about the religion. I gave him the crash course on what makes our religion different from others. (Thank you survey of would religions.) He thought it was interesting and asked me about south parks musical, I told him I've been too busy to see it but I'm not offended because religions have been mocked for centuries and its our turn. That's not really how I feel but I don't have an opinion about south parks musical, nor do I care what others say I have better things to do with my time.

After the party me and some of the people just chilled in one of the apartments. Can I say I its interesting being with a bunch of film people that don't go to the same school as I do? It's great to see everyone's perspective on film and such.
Also these beds in the apartment sucks apparently French people don't believe in space, 2 ply toilet paper, soft beds or screens on windows. ;)

Day 3:
Well I road the bus today cant remember the last time I was on a public bus. We got to walk around De Cannes film festival area. Wow its freaken big. We had our orientation for our jobs, obviously I am working in the restaurant as a waiter. I really want to work at the bar ;)
We had a few speakers today in our pre festival orientation SAG/indi was the only helpful one I think because in the film world you deal a lot with SAG and its great to have a contact to help get great actors on a independent budget. The other guy I didn't pay attention to I was too busy writing this is one my phone. Lol
That night I went to the beach with some of the people that I met at the airport. I didn't stay long in the water cuz its cold, but it was fun while it lasted.

Day 4:
First day of the festival. I was a little worried how today would work out but its been a pretty good day. I only had to waitress for a few hours because I helped the girl at the bar. No I didn't mix any drinks I only mixes water :). Work was kind of slow but in the middle we picked up, after work I went to see a market movie. I plan to go everyday after or before work to see as many of them as I can.
The independent feature FOR ROBBING THE DEAD the one I worked on last summer apparently will be shown on the market in cannes I will have to look out for it.
I really wanted to go see MIDNIGHT IN PARIS tonight but I didnt get an ticket. It's all good ill just see it some other time.
Nothing much happen today after that.

Day something like I can really count:
I saw the movie "We need to talk about Kevin" wow its way depressing but so well done!!! The metaphors they use are amazing. I recommend it only if your willing to see a sad movie. Plus the little kid they got!!! wtf where did they find him that performance he gave was amazing for a little kid. There are faces he makes that a kid that age shouldn't be able to make.

Today Famke Janseen came and spoke today, you would prob recognize her as Jean Grey from X-Men (and if i wasn't trying to be professional around her I would have asked what is what like to kiss Hugh Jackman) She is starting to move into directing and she directed her first film, "taking care of bobby." After she talked I went up to her and talked to her, her advice to me was never give up no matter how hard it is. We live for those moments where everything falls into place, its perseverance something something something you need to learn all that you can about something. (Sorry I forgot.) Surround yourself with unbelievable talent and never give up. :)

Well this is all i have time for now so I'll post more later!

Announcement!!!

Announcement for WhAt??? Well that's what i've been saying for a while...actually since friday. The reason I decided to start a blog was for my own use and any other stalkers wanting to know what the heck was going on in my life. Since Facebook isn't seeming to cut it, I made a blog, also if we could all take a moment to notice my user name and laugh that would be great. For all those who don't get it, get on YouTube and watch "Marcel the shell with shoes on."

So why get a blog? I guess I've been having a few amazing experiences going on in my life that I want people to know all the details so I don't have to tell them. Laughing Out Loud, actually I'm sure its more amazing when it comes from my mouth, but since some people can't take me seriously then they can just read this and call it good. I sound like a hater.

Friday, February 25, 2011, I was accepted into The American Pavilion Student Program, which will take place in Cannes France. Yes, I'm excited and yes it's gonna cost a lot, but I know this is what I'm suppose to do this summer, even if its only for two weeks.

Let me start at the beginning.

I applied, and got in. The End.

Ha! HA! I so funny, yes I am.

The REAL beginning.

August something, 2010.

After experiencing an amazing stitches incident, school around the corner, and adapting to a new ward and house, etc. I felt like I needed to figure out what I'd be doing next year, since in that point of my life, it dawned on me:  I only have a year left of school, I still work at Wendy's, film is awesome, and I have back problems, well actually it was my hip that was locked out of place. But I didn't find that out until October. Do I feel old? Yes.

Well last semester I tried not to think about what I was going to do with my life, because it stressed me out. My mind and heart were wish washy, but one thing was for sure, I need to find an internship. But I had too much going on so I tossed that idea in the back of my mind, but it still worried me.

Then this semester came and I started looking at internships in New York, because when I was there in 06 I felt that one day I would come back. So why not for an internship? So I found a couple of internships that would fit well for me, but when I went to submit my application I felt like I should hold back, just for a while.

About a month ago a guy from the American Pavilion came into my screen writing class. He talked about this opportunity to attend a student program for film students at Cannes Film Festival. Now not many people understand how big Cannes Film Festival is, let me use small words because I'm not educated enough like Dean Duncan (A Film professor with 15 PhD's ;))  It's a BIG DEAL. It like the number one way to Market films.

Well after looking at the cost of it, I laughed to myself and thought yeah this would be a cool thing to do but I can never afford it. But then a little voice said, "It wouldn't hurt to apply." So at the last moment I applied, then scrambled around getting letter of recommendations and transcripts blah and a blah!

Then a few after applying I got an e-mail that said I had moved onto stage 2. Which meant a phone interview. I was in shock then was like, "crap I think I'm going to get this!" They scheduled my interview on the 23. They called me and told me more about the program, and they also informed me that this won't be a vacation. It will be physical and mentally tiring. Well after my experience on For Robbing The Dead, I think I can handle a shower with no curtain. (Yes he told me that.)

Personally I think they accepted me was because I've worked at Wendy's for 6 years, and I'm holding a manager position. Because he said that was very impressive and my boss gave me a good recommendation. Thanks Kim.

After the interview he told me I will find out if they accepted me on Friday. Well on that day came and I was busy with life, while at work I got the e-mail. I didn't know what to do. I wanted to jump up and down and scream, I even wanted to cry. But knowing me I don't react in situations like that. So I called my manager and she screamed for me. I guess when I called my mom she didn't understand what I was saying, so she said, "Awe that's great MarSchelle, Good job." She said I sounded like I was about to have a heart attack. Thanks Mom.

Well at that moment it hit me that I don't have my passport. And it was too late to go get the paper work started on that. Boo! So I had to wait till Monday for that. I didn't really tell anyone because I have to get my passport ASAP because they paper work is due April 1st. But the lady that submitted my application for my passport said I should get it on March 28. So I know that everything is going to work out.

I'll be leaving either May 6 or 7, and will return some time after the 23. I'm way excited to be doing this, and yes all you haters out there best be hatin because the dress code is shirts and SHORTS!

Love,
